09-08-08 I finally got my web submission form up and running last night. Thank you so much Jorge for all your help once again. It took us all night getting the bugs out of it, but I'm very thrilled with the end result. I've already had a few readers write in using the form. I love that readers can now submit their ideas even easier now. Someone originally suggested the idea and I loved it and now it's part of my site. If there is anyone else out there with any other ideas, on making improvements to the site, let me know so I can try to and incorporate those ideas into my site as well. I've also added some links to some great financial blogs I've been following at the bottom of this page. If you know of one you'd like to recommend, or if you have your own, contact me and let me know the address and I'll check it out and maybe add it to my site. 09-06-08 I'm still working on getting the finally touches done on the contact submission form. The tip of the week has been updated. Also the article of the week was submitted by a good friend of mine Nick Bellini. It touches on one of my older pieces of advice that quitting smoking saves you money. He submitted a great article on how to help quit smoking and I hope you enjoy it. 09-01-08 This week's update is going to be a little late since I'm working on getting a couple of things done on the site. Most importantly I'm trying to get an easier submission form so viewers never even have to leave the site to contact the us. You would think it should be pretty easy, but it's much tougher than you would think. I'll try to have the tip and article updated by no later than Friday. 08-25-08 I'm very excited my first online contest is about to start. Of course it's not for giant prizes yet, but it's a start. So don't forget to get your tip submitted next month for a chance to win. Ezinearticles.com has put up two more of my articles which is awesome. It's a great web site with lots of great content on any topic you can think of. I'm working on getting an easier submission page so you can just fill out a form on this site instead of having to open your email to write. Hopefully I can have that updated in the next week or so. I'm also thinking there is a lot of content with little images on the site. I'm going to see if I can throw in a few more pics here and there soon. Thanks for visiting the site and more updates next week of course. 08-19-08 I'm one day late this week so my apologies to any readers who checked earlier today or last night for my weekly update. This weeks hits have been great and yesterdays visits were the second highest total since the site went online. So things are going great. It seems like the majority of hits are coming from Google so that's great. Looks like of new first time visitors and hopefully if you're reading this come back soon and always write your thoughts so I get some new fresh opinions. Another couple of articles were submitted to Ezinearticles.com and hopefully they post them soon. I also wanted to thank those who sent in some suggestions for where I should get gift cards for some of the viewers submitting their tips to be added on the site. So far it looks like Home Depot, Walmart, Best Buy and White Castle where the top suggestions. Doesn't look like White Castle is gonna get picked since I want something nation wide and there isn't any one of those anywhere near in Boston. I did have some of their burgers when I visited Ohio and they are great though. Keep submitting ideas and hopefully we can have our first contest soon. 08-11-08 Okay another Monday is here already. The weekends are just going by way to quick. The section of the week has been updated. I decided to link my new energy section since I put a lot into that section. It also involves so many user submitted tips I really want to get that one section out there. I updated my tip of the week and my main page photo is also updated. Since we're getting closer to another NFL football season, I'm finally starting to get over last years Superbowl loss. I'm looking forward to another great year hopefully and Dani can't wait for the season to begin either. You can see by the new home page pic she is ready for the regular season to get under way. I apologize for a couple broken links I missed too and thanks to the readers advising me to get that corrected. If it happens again please don't hesitate to contact me so I can get that fixed right away. 08-08-08 Well it's almost 1:00 AM on Friday morning and I didn't get my Energy Saving Tips section up on Thursday. I was very close though. I had a lot of great submissions to include. So it's finally time to go to bed so I can wake up for work in a few hours. Some more great news today. EzineArticles.com put one of my articles up on their site. I've already gotten quite a few extra hits because of it. I submitted "My car buying guide". I think that was one of my better articles. Since I only have about 6 up right now it's also one of my only articles. 08-04-08 Lately the majority of the tips readers have been sending in are about different ways to save on energy. I think they're great and keep them coming. If there are a certain few tips you use to save energy send them over as well as any ways to save the environment and save you money. Search the internet and read some of the great list out there devoted to the topic. Pick which ones you think are the best and send them my way. I've taken a lot of the submitted tips and already started my new Top Way To Save on energy section which will soon appear in the left hand column. I think I'm going to wait a few more days to also give more viewers time to submit their ideas. Check back later this week and by Thursday the update should be up in place. In the mean time, I've updated both the tip of the week and rotated the article of the week. If anyone would like to submit an article email it to me as long as it's your own work I'll put it up and give you credit of course. I have also been debating maybe putting the tip of the week winners into a contest where I pull a $20 gift card. I would assign them a number and then use a random number generator online to pull the winners lucky number. Send me your thoughts if you think it's a good idea as well as where you think the gift card should be for. 07-27-08 Sorry that I'm a week late with my site update on both the tip and article of the week. I'm going to do my best to hopefully not let that happen again. There has been a lot of emails and feedback this week and I just want to say one of the greatest things about having your own site is meeting the interesting people who also run their own sites as well. You get to learn about what steps they have taken to get their sites as successful as they are. You also get lots of advice on what mistakes people have made and how you can try and avoid those same mistakes. This week I've been talking with the creator of saveforhouse.com. His site has been around a little longer than mine and has been doing very well over in the UK. His content is wonderful and he's touched on a very large number of topics on saving money that can be applied here. I definitely recommend checking it out. Knowledge is one thing you can never get enough of. 07-14-08 Another Monday and another site update. I've had a few spelling errors that some readers noticed and pointed out. If you notice any spellings errors or grammatical mistakes, definitely write in and let me know. I would rather have someone tell me right away, than hundreds of readers thinking I'm a dumb ass. :-) So thanks for the tips on making my site better. July 18th is coming up soon which means the new Batman movie "The Dark Knight" is coming soon. I'm all about saving money, but I do think this movie is going to be worth paying a couple extra bucks for to see in IMAX. 07-07-08 The 4th of July mini vacation is over and back to my real job tomorrow. I have started answering some questions on Yahoo answers, which has helped my hits some. Plus it's nice to get a sense you're helping someone by giving them advice. My front page model enjoyed her time by the pool today (so didn't her mommy and daddy). I would definitely eventually like to create a savings forum once the traffic is a little higher. I would also like to add a form so viewers can submit their ideas easier and without having to do so via email. Both were excellent ideas though and I thank you for submitting those ideas. Since it's Monday I've updated the article and tip of the week and hope you enjoy. Also my site has jumped up to $465 in value since last week so definitely a good jump in one week. Should be no problem getting it up over that $1000 goal so I may have to change that. 06-22-08 The weekly top tip and article link have been updated a day early this week. I'll be on vacation this week so I had to make my updates early. Thanks for the feedback on improving the site to everyone who has written in so far. I found a great link to check out called websiteoutlook.com. It tells you what it thinks your web site is worth. Mine is worth $365. Could be worse I guess. My goal is to have that worth over $1000 by christmas. We'll see how that goes. 06-16-08 MSN is now showing search results as well as Altavista. So that's all the major search engines. That's really cool and all are bringing search results to Topwaystosave.com which is great. The top tip of the week and the article of the week have both been updated since it's Monday. Thanks to some great advice, I started using HTML Tidy to make sure the coding is all proper in the background. I'm still learning and thanks Jorge once again for your help and Happy Belated Fathers day to all the fathers out there. 06-09-08 Great news that Yahoo is now referring to my site on searches. I love that. Nothing with MSN yet, but I'm sure it just takes time. The tip and article of the week have both been updated. Celtics are up 2-0 so that's great news. Not much to write today. Thanks for keeping up with my site and thanks for the feedback given. If anyone has any ideas on how to spread the word out about my site let me know. I'm always trying to find new ways to get new readers and more hits. 06-03-08 Well don't feel bad if you didn't get in for the Celtics NBA Finals tickets. I didn't either. You never know though so there's no harm in trying. Thanks to Bigtuna Fan and Luci for writing in with some good advice on how to improve the site. Both suggested the site was too white, so I tried add a little color by changing the left table a shade of green. The other suggestions I'm still working on, but I definitely take all tips and advice under consideration and I loved your other ideas. I'm just not technical enough to make some of the changes by myself yet. Hopefully I can get help with those sometime next weekend. I've followed some advice by another friend Tom by adding both the article and tip of the week as well. Sounds like good advice Tom. P.S if you Google "top ways to save" i'm currently the 2nd url to come up. I think that's incredible. A couple of other search engines I submitted to still aren't finding my site at all yet. Google is just awesome. 6-01-08 Great weekend modifications for the site. A favicon was added to the site. If you bookmark the site you'll see it next to the site instead of the boring little Internet Explorer icon. I also got some flash animation added to spruce up the look of the buttons. Thanks for all your help Jorge with both of those. Tickets for the NBA finals game 1 & 2 go on sale tomorrow at Ticketmaster at 2 PM. If you really want to go to any type of concert or sporting event then find out when the tickets go on sale. Scalpers and ticket agencies can charge outrageous prices. You're best bet is to attempt to get tickets right when they go on sale. Even if you do get through right away for tickets you're still going to have to pay convenience charges, delivery fees, etc. You're best way to save money is stay home and if it's a sporting event and just watch it at home. If you are going to go to the event, know when the tickets go on sale and do your best to get through for the tickets as soon as they go on sale. 5-29-08 Awesome amount of hits yesterday. Nice trick. Great show. 5-28-08 Yesterday I Googled "Top ways to save" and there it was. What a thrill. I'm so excited. I heard it could take months, but in about one week it was already added. Google rocks. I'm sure that's going to definitely add to a lot of extra hits. This weekend I hopefully will have at least a couple more sections or additions and hopefully my links will be updated. Thanks again to my early visitors and keeping checking back for updates. Remember to bookmark the site. 5-24-08 Saw one of my pages on Google today. That's a good sign. I hear it can take months to get on search engines so hopefully it won't take that long. Hits are coming, but I'm definitely trying to read more about increasing traffic. Lisa at 2createawebsite.com was very nice in responding to me with some advice. I love her site. I'm trying to make the fonts consistent so the pages flow better. I still have to make the links a little better looking as well. The site is up to about 690 hits in less than one week, but now a large number of unique hits. I definitely need to find more ways to spread the word. 05-21-08 Today tried to get on more search engines. Submitted URL, but being new to this have no idea how long it will take to get updated if at all. Up to 414 hits. Still pretty excited. I updated my gas saving tips link today and a better picture of my baby girl Dani for the home page. I love having my own free baby model. Another top way to Save :-) 05-20-08 To those who wrote, thanks for all my early feedback. Today is only day three of the site and as of last night there has already been 339 hits. A lot more than I expected, but then again I'm sure plenty of those are from me double checking my work. Still pretty impressive though. Yesterday I submitted my site to google so hopefully it will be up there soon. I'm sure that would tremendously increase my hits and readers. I'd also really like to upgrade the links into a nicer looking bar with some fancier buttons this weekend. I'm still working on expanding my content as well. I'm trying to add a saving gas tip link. If anyone has any ideas on saving gas let me know so I can finish that link. 05-18-08 Today is launch day. Thanks so much to my good friend Jorge Fernandez for helping me get my site up and functioning. Thanks to all my first site visitors as well. I realize I need to better organize some of my content and that's one of my highest priorities. I also knew the best way for me to stay motivated was to get the site up and work from there. I can't wait to get some feedback as to what type of tips I should add and any corrections or improvements I should make.
