Basic Guide To Tipping
A common
money related question is "How much should I tip for certain services?"
The following is a guideline of what I think is fair or I've asked around
and found to be fair.
If
eating out and the waitress is rude or horrible tip less. Worst waitress
in your life and if you totally feel mistreated leave even less or nothing
at all. Have an incredible waitress who goes out of their way to make
you and your guest more than satisfied, reward her for it. Have a massage
therapist who gave you the best massage or a new hairdresser who cut
your hair better than ever, give them more.
Use
your own judgment of course. These are just my suggestions.
- Restaurant
server 15-20% total bill. (if in a larger party some restaurants
already add in a set percentage such as 18 percent for parties of
6-8 or more)
- Bartender $1
a drink. (if crowded a little extra might get you served faster
next time around though)
- Taxi- 15-20
percent - minimum $2 and a little more for luggage
- Limo Driver
15-20 percent
- Doorman/Guy at hotel who gets you cab $1-2
- Sky Cap at
airport $1-2 a bag- Some airlines charge for this and it goes to
airline still tip Skycap
- Dunkin Donuts
or any coffee shop or cashier with tip cup. These are optional or
small change
- Housekeeping- some hotels already include but usually
$2
- Pizza/food
Delivery $2. More for larger orders and deliveries in rain or snow.
- Furniture Delivery-
optional- at least offer drinks - but maybe $10 if above and beyond
service
- Valet parking

- Bathroom attendant

- Hairdresser- men's basic cut $3-5 women's haircut
15-20 percent

- Coatroom attendant
